
Q. Do I need to have trained as an actor for CHA to consider my application?
A. Not always. Some people are recommended to us, however, to achieve anything in this business you will need to train and continue to train to stay competitive.
Q. Should I give up my day job if I am just starting out?
A. Definitely not, unless you are in a very secure financial position.
Q. What if I miss auditions because of my job?
A. There will be some auditions that you will be unable to attend and that's the nature of the business. You will always be juggling jobs with opportunities in acting.
Q. If I miss auditions will I be looked upon as unreliable?
A. No, casting consultants are sympathetic to most situations, however, if they change and change times to accommodate you and you still do not attend, then yes, they will be less likely to consider you in the future.
Q. Do we represent young children and babies?
A . No, not at the moment.
Q. What is the youngest we represent?
A. Depends on the individual, but around 12 to 13 years.
Q. Do we need to sign a contract?
A. No, but we do have an agreement covering commissions, etc that you will need to be familiar with and agree to.
Q. After sending information to be considered for representation will I receive a yes or no?
A. We respond to 99% of all our enquiries. If however you have not received a reply please email martinactors@bigpond.com and ask.
Q. Do I need professional photographs?
A. No, but they do need to be clear and of a professional standard.
Q. Do I need to be on a web site?
A. Yes, we use AT2 and the fee is paid directly to AT2. www.at2.com
Q. Do I need a mobile phone?
A. Yes, most of us do have one, but if you don't you will need to. It is an important tool to receive texts and information.
Q. Do I need my own email address?
A. Yes.
Q. Do I need to pay a annual service fee to Casper Hope & Associates?
A. No, the only charges are commissions when you work.
Q. When I work, how will I be paid?
A. After the job is completed you will be sent a cheque via mail or direct debit to your account. These funds are only available when Martin Lucas Management has been paid and clear funds are available to be sent to you.
Q. What are your commissions?
A. 15 % for all work and 10% for long term employment in film, television or theatre.
Q. If I find work on my own am I still charged commission?
A. Only if you involve us in the invoicing or negotiating fees, for whatever the project is.
Q. If I am represented by Casper Hope & Associates is there guarantee of work?
A. No. We do work hard to achieve results but it is a tough, tough business.
Q. Can I have two agents?
A. No. (but there are rare exceptions)
